Consistency of the S(u/o)n

The weather around us varies constantly. It changes from rainy to sunny to windy to cloudy to stormy to dark to light...and on and on it goes. It's always in motion and moving forward creating a different picture and perspective each time to feast our eyes upon.

But have you ever been on a jet and flown at 35,000 feet, above the part of the atmosphere that produces what we know as our weather? As you look down, it varies; ah, but look up, and it is always the same. The sun is there, shining bright, consistent, and beautiful.  Does the sun go somewhere when it is raining down on earth? No, it's still right where it has always been. When there is a storm has the sun disappeared? Because we certainly don't see it when there is gray as far as the eye can see...but no, it's still there, warm and marvelous.

How does this reflect Christ? Oh, it does in a huge way. You see, in life, each day has a slightly different weather pattern, never to be repeated quite the same again. Some days are very cloudy and we cannot see the sun at all. Some days it is cold and rainy, and we cannot feel the warmth of the sun. And then, some days are bright and warm, and we see and feel the sun.

Though our "weather" constantly changes, the sun is still consistently there where it has always been, doing what it has always done; it is only a matter of our perspective changing based on circumstances we encounter. Just because we can't see it shining above the clouds that block our view does not mean it has gone away somewhere. Just because we cannot feel it when circumstances dampen our lives does not mean it no longer exists. Because the truth of the matter is, it is right beyond those "things" that become our sun-blockers. Everything revolves around and depends on Christ, just as our solar system depends on the sun and everything circles around it. Happenstance? I think not. The Word says creation speaks of its Creator. Boy does it ever...

So, do we live like we know the truth of the Son? Do we bask in His consistency when EVERYTHING else is constantly changing and, ultimately, unreliable? Do we recognize and submit to the fact that our lives were created be and revolve around Him? What are you facing that has caused you to forget the truth of what lies beyond your circumstances? He's still there; always has been. Still there consistently loving...consistently calling us to Himself. He never, ever changes.

Don't forget where the Son is...right where He's always been...pursuing your heart and walking right alongside you.
