Saving Weeds

Weeds. At first thought, you think, "oh I hate weeds!" and envision yourself as the mass weed exterminator getting rid of every weed in sight, bound and determined that your weeds will NOT inhibit the growth of your plants!

Sometimes, I find in my spiritual walk with the Lord, I get a little bit comfortable with the weeds in my life. After all, there are still more other plants than weeds...and some even grow flowers and masquerade as plants! They don't look too bad...sooo I think I'll just leave them. Oh but then sometimes we go a step further...we actually box and protect our weeds! Oh yes...you don't think so?

Well maybe it's just me, but some examples are: putting myself before my husband "hunny can you get that?" even though I totally can. It's a little seed of selfishness...my comfort above his. And why change that, right? It's sort of nice being taken care of...

Or maybe not having grace and being harsh in my words. It's easy to rationalize that the words needed to be said, or I was just really frustrated, etc. But what then? Do I repent? Or do I build a box around it to make sure it doesn't get mowed down the next time my yard is pruned?

It's a constant fight for sure. It's so much easier to box those weeds that are comfortable to keep around, however, the future results are devastating.

I've been married just over a year, and it's been the most incredible, rewarding adventure yet! It is also a big fat huge giant Mirror of yourself. You see all your strengths and weaknesses come out full force...and if you've been blessed with an incredible man with the strength of being gracious and loving as I have, it really brings those things to the forefront as I sit back and meditate on my words and actions in conflict.

I don't know that I've done a very good job of asking and allowing God to cut down and rip out my weeds, because they have been comfortable, easier, and convenient. If my life goals were for life to be easy and lazy, that would be a good plan. However, I know God has so much more!

It's great to be back on here. Soon I'll have a little boy at home to look after but I'm going to make a valiant effort to keep sharing what God writes on my heart, and to be transparent because I know I'll always be a work in progress...

So until next time, what weeds have you put a box around so they are protected from Heaven's lawnmower? Knock out that box. It will be so worth it.
